Why ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certification?

Blair Duron has the most Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certifications in the industry.

Quality. This term usually refers to how good something is. In other words, its degree of excellence. An airplane flying without a catastrophic failure, a surgical procedure that saves a life, or a mobile phone that allows us to “stay connected” continuously, in real-time. ISO 9001:2015 is also one of these things.

Quality in business. In business, the term also has a pragmatic interpretation as the superiority of something. It refers to a product or service as ‘fit for purpose’ and satisfying customer requirements.

At Blair Duron, our vision is to be the contractor and employer of choice. Implementing a quality management system (QMS) and Lean 6S are two of many systems we utilize to help us realize these objectives. And becoming one of the first specialty-flooring installation service companies to attain certification in quality management is a tangible measure of our commitment to excellence.

Certification also validates — through third-party audits — that our processes and employees are aligned with providing a faster, better, and less expensive client solution. Delivering a better client experience than any other provider, diligently and responsibly improving safety, and committing fully to our 100%-in-house employee training and career development, Blair Duron emanates quality as a core value.

What is ISO 9001:2015?

What is ISO 9001:2015? It is a quality management process based on seven principles, including having the involvement of top management, a strong customer focus, and a drive for continual improvement. Those seven quality management principles are:

  1. Customer focus
  2. Leadership
  3. Engagement of people
  4. Process approach
  5. Continuous improvement
  6. Evidence-based (data-driven) decision making
  7. Relationship management

These seven principles are not ordered by priority. They are not linear, chronological, or successive. Rather, each of the principles depends on the others to attain quality. Additionally, they are holistic. As a result, compromising even one of them viscerally challenges the integrity of the process and the outcome. While interdependent, the relative importance of each principle may vary from one organization to another. Also, each can change over time and from project to project.
